With Columbus Day right around the corner, many shoppers are gearing up to hit the sales and save some cash. Whitman School of Management��Assistant Professor of Retail Practice��, spoke with USA Today about the sales. One way things have changed, Wimer says, is how people view the sales.

“You don’t necessarily see somebody waiting for the Columbus Day sale,” Wimer says. He also noted that a shift has taken place where shoppers are focused more on holiday sales, rather than Columbus Day itself.
