Blockbuster stores used to be everywhere across the United States. Now they stand deserted or filled with other businesses, a trend that has been copied across the nation, as pop culture expert and Newhouse professor Robert Thompson explained to Moneyish.
“Blockbuster isn’t alone — the decline of the company is really emblematic of broader trends we see across the landscape of the US economy,” Thompson said, speaking of the e-commerce aspect that has helped along brick and mortar storefronts.
