While headway on establishing a date itself is a call for celebration, ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ religion head Phillip Arnold says that much more can be done to celebrate Native American Day in Arizona. Speaking with AZ Central, he says that this is just the first step of many.

“I think these gestures — apologies for the past or acknowledgements of contributions — are all important, but they need to be followed up with education, understanding and intercultural communication,” he said. “This can be an important first step, but it’s really just that: a first step.”
