J. Christopher Hamilton, assistant professor of television, radio and film in the Newhouse School, was quoted by the Cortland Standard for the article “” Hamilton, who researches race and business monetization, says it can be very difficult for Black and minority business owners when first starting a new venture, especially in predominantly white communities where “social connections can have a large influence on business.” “If you’re not interconnected with those people, you’re going to have a harder time running a business,” says Hamilton.
