Keck, an expert on the U.S. Supreme Court, says that Republicans have been more focused on filling seats in the court than Democrats for a long time, explaining why Biden’s campaign has not focused heavily on the topic. “If you’re the Biden campaign and you think this election is going to be won by appealing to white moderates in the Midwest, maybe it feels like focusing on coronavirus and Trump’s bad handling of that is the way to go,” says Keck.
