Robert Thompson, Trustee Professor of radio, television and film and director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the Newhouse School, was quoted in the NY Daily News story “” The show returned for its 46th season and was immediately faced with how to handle President Trump’s recent coronavirus diagnosis on the show. “There’s already high anticipation to see how ‘Saturday Night Live’ solves the many challenges it’s got coming back in the first place, and now they’ve got to do it where their principal target of comedy is now someone who could possibly be gravely ill, and certainly does have a virus that can be life-threatening,” says Thompson.
