Jennifer Stromer-Galley, professor in the School of Information Studies, was interviewed for the NPR All Things Considered story “” Both the Biden and Trump 2020 presidential campaigns have turned to texting as a main form of communication, as it’s cheap, easy to use and quickly grabs a voter’s attention. Stromer-Galley, who studies political campaigns in the digital era, has been analyzing the text messaging strategies of both campaigns. She found that “the number of messages she gets has tripled since the parties conventions in August, with Republicans sending three times as many as Democrats,” and says the messages often have a tone of “berating her for not giving money.”
