Roy Gutterman, associate professor of magazine, news and digital journalism in the Newhouse School and director of the Tully Center for Free Speech, was quoted in the CNN story “” Gutterman, an expert on communications and First Amendment law, says that many instances of speech that people believe are covered by free speech laws are not. For example, Gutterman says that citizens do not have the right to express themselves in terms of free speech while working for a private company or when posting on social media sites, which are also private companies that make users agree to terms of service when they join.
