Whitney Phillips, assistant professor of communication and rhetorical studies in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, was interviewed for the Politico story “.” Phillips, an expert on digital ethics and political communication, says that political tweets pose certain risks, as negative reactions often arise when a tweet surfaces with an audience that doesn’t resonate with a particular message. No matter how good one’s intentions may be, Phillips says “it’s impossible to control any of our messages. You can only focus on the consequences.”
