Kevin Du, professor of electrical engineering and computer science in the College of Engineering & Computer Science, was quoted in the CSO Online story “.” Du, who studies security systems in smartphones, says that users should be be catious using out-of-date devices, as they rarely guarantee regular software updates that protect users’ information. “Many of them don’t even have a patching mechanism built in, and that’s becoming more and more of a threat these days,” Du says.
