“Fox versus Newsmax and the future of ‘Trump TV’.”
Robert Thompson, Trustee Professor of television, radio and film and director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the Newhouse School, was quoted in the Deseret News story “.” Thompson, an expert on pop culture and media, explains that part of the reason for Fox’s success is utilizing news personalities to help further the TV station’s brand. “Fox figured out they didn’t need to get 30 million people to watch; they didn’t need 10 million people to watch. A 24-hour news channel was a comparatively small slice of the population, and if they could get 2 or 3 million people who really, really liked them, they could become No. 1 in the field,” Thompson says.
