Information session on Remembrance Scholarships to be held Thursday

This year’s Remembrance Scholars will hold an information session on Thursday, Dec. 2, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Room 018 of Eggers Hall to offer advice on the Remembrance Scholar application process.

The Remembrance Scholarship was established after the terrorist bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, in December 1988. As a result of this bombing, 270 people were killed, including 35 students who had been studying through ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ’s Division of International Programs Abroad and 11 residents of Lockerbie.

Each year, 35 students in the spring of their junior year who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and service to the community are named as Remembrance Scholars. The scholarship is a $5,000 cash award, which is credited toward senior year tuition charges. In order to apply for this scholarship, students must be graduating in either December 2011 or May/August 2012. The deadline for applications is Jan. 21, 2011.
