“(Bio)sensing protein interactions”
Research from , professor of physics in the College of Arts and Sciences, and graduate students Lauren Ashley Mayse and Ali Imran was featured in the Science Daily story “.” The team of researchers designed a highly sensitive sensor that is able to identify proteins in solutions down to a single molecule. The collaborative project was funded through a $1.2 million grant from the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS).
Movileanu explained that the project aims to help detect chemical markers of disease in the body as soon as they start to develop. “By integrating these sensors into nanofluidic devices that are scalable, we are not too far from being able to scan many markers from a sample of blood,” Movileanu said.
