Meridian Phase 2, a New York City-based ensemble featuring pianist Adrienne Kim, a faculty member in the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music in ���ϲ�����’s (VPA), will present a concert of classic and contemporary chamber music for clarinet, piano and strings on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 8 p.m. in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium, Crouse College. The concert is free and open to the public. Free parking is available in the Irving Garage.

The ensemble will perform the ���ϲ����� premiere of “For Noah,” a piano trio by Setnor School composition faculty member Nicolas Scherzinger, as well as Mozart’s Piano Quartet in G Minor, K. 478, “Hommage à Robert Schumann” by György Kurtág, a Fairy Tale by Robert Schumann and Brahms’ Clarinet Trio in A Minor, Op. 114.

In addition to Kim, Meridian Phase 2 includes Alan Kay, clarinet; Lisa Tipton, violin; Daniel Panner, viola; and Alberto Parrini, cello. The ensemble has established a reputation for innovative programming and captivating performances with its decade-long series, “Made in America,” at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. In addition to the concert, Meridian Phase 2 will be working with SU students in master classes.

About the performers:

• Kim is an affiliate artist on the Setnor School’s keyboard faculty. Her recent performances include several concerts at Weill Hall, on Ravinia’s Rising Stars Series and with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
• Scherzinger, an associate professor of composition at the Setnor School, is the recipient of many awards and commissions, including ASCAP, the Barlow Endowment and the Jerome Foundation.
• Kay is an artistic director and member of Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and serves as principal clarinet with New York’s Riverside Symphony and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s. He teaches at the Manhattan School of Music, the Juilliard School and SUNY Stony Brook University.
• Tipton was a founding member of the Meridian String Quartet and the Manhattan Piano Trio. She has also performed with the American Symphony Orchestra, Solisti New York and Eos Ensemble, and serves as director of the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music Program.
• Panner is principal violist of New York City Opera and is a member of the Mendelssohn String Quartet and Sequitur. He is on the faculty of Mannes College.
• Parrini is a member of the Zukofsky Quartet and the American Chamber Players, and is a former member of the St. Lawrence String Quartet.
