Nancy Hill, president-CEO of the 4A鈥檚 (American Association of Advertising Agencies), will visit 黑料不打烊鈥檚 on Wednesday, March 2, as part of the Eric Mower Advertising Forum. She will give a public address, 鈥淭he Communications Industry: Reflecting and Creating Culture,鈥 at 6:30 p.m. in the Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium in Newhouse 3. Her talk is free and open to the public. Parking is available in SU pay lots.
Founded in 1917, the 4A’s is the national trade association representing the advertising agency business in the United States. Hill has served in her current position with the 4A鈥檚 since February 2008. She is a veteran leader of 4A鈥檚 member agencies on both coasts. Her advertising background is steeped in technology experience from working with clients including Cisco, Microsoft, LucasArts, Sybase, Sony and Verizon. Hill has distinguished herself as a technologically savvy champion of the digital marketing ecosystem and is a leading voice for diversity, youth education and training in the advertising industry.
The 4A鈥檚 is a management-oriented association that offers members the broadest possible services, expertise and information regarding the advertising agency business. 4A鈥檚 members produce approximately 80 percent of the total advertising volume placed by agencies nationwide. While virtually all of the large, multinational agencies are members of the 4A’s, more than 60 percent of the membership鈥攔epresenting small- to mid-sized agencies鈥攂ills less than $10 million per year. The average 4A’s agency has been a member for more than 20 years, and a dozen agencies can trace their memberships back to the group of 111 agencies that founded the 4A’s in 1917.
Hill began her career in the recording industry. Before the 4A鈥檚, she was CEO at Lowe New York. Prior to that, she served as executive vice president and managing director at BBDO New York, where she oversaw several of the agency’s largest accounts. Hill came to BBDO from Hill Holliday, where she was president of the firm鈥檚 San Francisco office and later served as executive vice president and managing director for New York. In San Francisco, she was named one of the 鈥75 Most Influential Women in Business鈥 in 2001 and 2002 by the San Francisco Business Times. Hill spent 11 years at Doner in Baltimore and with TBWA/Chiat/Day before moving to San Francisco to lead Goldberg Moser O’Neill, which later became Hill Holliday.
