Jennifer L. Pozner, author of “Reality Bites Back: The Troubling Truth about Guilty Pleasure TV” (Seal Press, 2010), will speak Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. in Watson Theater on “Project Brainwash: Why Reality TV Is Bad for Women.” A reception and book signing will begin at 6 p.m.
Pozner is a media critic, author and founding director of Women In Media & News (WIMN), a media analysis, education and advocacy group. MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry says “’Reality Bites Back: The Troubling Truth About Guilty Pleasure TV,’” is “required reading for every American girl and woman.”
Pozner’s journalism appears in Newsweek, Ms., Bitch, Chicago Tribune, and Elle Canada, among many other outlets. She has served as an advisor and analyst for the award-winning OWN documentary “Miss Representation” and offered media commentary on NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, HLN, MSNBC, Fox News and “The Daily Show” and wrote and starred in the satirical web series, “Reality Rehab with Dr. Jenn.”
