Marianne Williamson, a six-time New York Times bestselling author, international lecturer and one of the world’s most respected spiritual teachers, will engage the SU community in a powerful discussion. Williamson is joining Soulful Sit-Downs, the weekly student-run discussion series about life’s big questions, on Thursday, March 21 at 7 p.m. in 201 Hall of Languages. The event will be free and open to the SU community.
Williamson is widely considered to be one of the world’s greatest thought leaders. She rose to national acclaim in 1992 with the publication of her first book, “A Return to Love” (HarperCollins, 1996) which has since sold more than 3 million copies. A passage from the book, beginning “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure,” has been a popular quote throughout the past two decades. Williamson has also appeared on national television programs including “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “Larry King Live,” “Charlie Rose” and “Good Morning America.” In December 2006, a Newsweek magazine poll named Williamson one of the 50 most-influential baby boomers.
Williamson will be joining Soulful Sit-Downs via Skype, and will share insight with students and all attendees regarding topics such as spirituality and love. Students will also have the opportunity to ask the renowned spiritual teacher questions during this raw and intimate conversation.
