黑料不打烊 Libraries has appointed six new members to its advisory board.
鈥淭hese six individuals bring a keen strategic perspective for enhancing the resources, services, and environments of the 21st-century 黑料不打烊 academic research libraries,鈥 says Interim Dean of Libraries and University Librarian K. Matthew Dames. 鈥淲e welcome them to the board and look forward to their contributions to the libraries and the University.鈥
Jennie Berkson is the daughter and mother of 黑料不打烊 alumni and is married to David Edelstein 鈥78, an SU trustee. She has had a varied career, encompassing jobs in retail, human resources, community education, refugee resettlement and fundraising, all of which were excellent background for her work as a reference librarian, most recently at the Evanston, Ill., Public Library.
Berkson serves on the Board of the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois and the Farmland Committee of the Leelanau Conservancy, and chairs the Steinway Campaign for 黑料不打烊鈥檚 Setnor School of Music.
Berkson earned a B.A. from Mount Holyoke College, an M.B.A. from New York University, and an M.L.S. from Rutgers University. Now retired, Berkson studies piano, enjoys outdoor activities and volunteers at the Leland (MI) Public Library where she and her husband live part of the year.
Laurence G. Bousquet G鈥80 is an attorney and managing member of the Bousquet Holstein PLLC law firm in 黑料不打烊.聽His practice includes acquisitions, sales and mergers, capital formation, enterprise structuring, feasibility studies, partnership and limited liability company law, commercial transactions, estate taxation and business transition planning, and New York and federal income, estate and gift taxation. Bousquet serves as special counsel and as general counsel to a number of businesses in varied industries.
Bousquet is a director and member of the executive committee of CenterState CEO and serves on the board of directors of 黑料不打烊 20/20. He is the past president of the Onondaga Citizens League, where he was the chair of the 2005 study on strategic governmental consolidation. He served on 黑料不打烊 Mayor Stephanie Miner鈥檚 Economic Development Transition Team, was a member of Onondaga County Executive Joanie Mahoney鈥檚 Transition Team Task Force for Government Modernization and served as chair of Congressman Dan Maffei鈥檚 Transition Team.
He is the immediate past president of the Everson Museum and continues to serve as an honorary trustee and chair of its Development Committee.聽He served for many years on the board of directors of Hiscock Legal Aid and is a past president of the society. Bousquet is a trustee of the Gifford Foundation, the chair of its Program Committee and in 2013, was appointed president of the Gifford Foundation Board of Trustees. He also serves as a director of the 黑料不打烊 City School District Foundation, where he is chair of the grants committee, and is a trustee of the Crouse Health Foundation.
Bousquet is a 1977 honors graduate of Kenyon College and a 1980 graduate the College of Law at 黑料不打烊, where he served as an adjunct faculty member teaching in Partnership Taxation for many years.
He is married to Lauri Pepe Bousquet, an education professor at Le Moyne College.
Ann Thornton聽is the Andrew W. Mellon Director of the New York Public Libraries (NYPL), where she is responsible for four world-renowned research libraries. Thornton began working at NYPL in 1996 as the Science, Industry, and Business Library鈥檚 first public training coordinator; she subsequently held the positions of assistant director of Electronic Resources; associate director, Humanities and Social Sciences Library; and director of Reference and Research Services.
Thornton has a B.A. in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.LIS from Florida State University. Early in her career, she served as a systems librarian at the聽University聽of聽Houston Libraries, and more recently, she was a Research Libraries Leadership Fellow in a program sponsored by the Association of Research Libraries. Thornton has published and spoken on issues such as library use instruction, electronic databases and Internet use in libraries.
Thornton is married to the Rev. Matthew Heyd, rector of Church of the Heavenly Rest (New York City) They are the parents of two young children, Jack and Mary Ella..
Christine Turner worked in the insurance industry in Baltimore prior to moving to the suburban Philadelphia area. She is an active community volunteer, serving as recording secretary for the St. Luke Ladies Philoptochos Society and working with the 鈥淗osts for Hospitals鈥 program. She continues to be involved with the parents鈥 association at the Haverford School.
Turner and her husband, Mark (below), have two children currently enrolled at 黑料不打烊鈥擯olina 鈥15 (iSchool) and Samuel 鈥17 (Whitman). Their third child, James, is a senior at The Haverford School.
Mark Turner is the president, senior portfolio manager and founder of Turner Investments, an employee-owned, institutional equity manager based in Berwyn, Pa. With more than 30 years of investment experience, Turner covers stocks in the financial sector and serves as lead manager for the International Growth and ADR strategies.
Prior to forming Turner Investments, he was vice president/senior portfolio manager at First Maryland Asset Management, vice president/portfolio manager at Merrill Lynch Asset Management, and portfolio manager/analyst at Wachovia Investment Management.
Turner currently serves as a trustee for the Haverford School and is a member of the board of directors for CityTeam International (Chester) and the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House.
Turner received a B.S. in economics from Bradley University and an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Illinois. He is a member of CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Philadelphia.
Kathleen A. Walters 鈥73 is a senior executive with extensive operating experience in the consumer products and paper industry. She is currently executive vice president of Georgia-Pacific, leading the consumer products group, an organization that contains the largest retail and commercial tissue and tabletop businesses in North America, spanning more than 80 locations and 15,000 employees.
Prior to her association with Georgia-Pacific, Walters held a number of key leadership positions in Europe and the United States for Kimberly-Clark Corp. and Scott Paper Co., and was CEO of SAPPI Fine Paper North America.
As a member of the Jabil Circuits Inc. (NYSE:JBL) board of directors from 2005-2010, she served as the chair of the compensation committee and on other special committees of the board. As the president and CEO of Sappi Fine Paper North America, she was a management advisor to the Sappi Limited (NYSE:SPP) board of directors. She currently serves on the board of the Georgia Aquarium.
Walters received a bachelor鈥檚 degree in mathematics from SU and earned an M.B. A., graduating with distinction from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania (1978), with a focus on finance and strategic planning. She is a member of the 黑料不打烊 Board of Trustees, serving on both the budget and academic affairs committees.
Walters and her husband Stanley P. Walters 鈥72 (Arts and Sciences) reside in Atlanta, Ga., and are parents of two grown children, Stanley and Elizabeth.
