City of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ to Implement Roadway Changes Along Waverly and Comstock Avenues

The City of ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ will be implementing roadway changes along Waverly and Comstock avenues with the goal of reducing speed and increasing pedestrian and cyclist safety in the area. The changes will include a new bicycle lane and parking options.

Weather-depending, beginning Friday, Oct. 17, portions of Comstock and Waverly avenues will be reduced to two driving lanes for cars. On Comstock Avenue, the work will occur between Euclid and Waverly avenues. On Waverly Avenue, the work will occur between Irving and Comstock avenues. The work is expected to be complete by early next week.

While the work is underway, automobile traffic will still be possible on both Waverly and Comstock avenues, although some minor delays in vehicle movement could occur.

The city is undertaking this pilot project to improve pedestrian safety and reduce the levels of vehicle speed. Similar changes have been made in two locations in the city—along East Genesee Street and West Onondaga Street. This project involves minimal construction and will result in new street painting and new pavement markings added to both avenues. This is a pilot project and any permanent changes would be pursuant to campus and community input and discussion.
