The strategy, tactics and ethics of the war in Iraq will be the focus of the next installment of the ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Forum: War in Iraq on Thursday, April 3. The forum will begin at 7 p.m. in Studio A of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and is open to the public. Those attending should use the Waverly Avenue entrance of the building.

Presenters will include William Banks, professor in the College of Law, and David Berteau, director of the National Security Studies (NSS) Program in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.

Banks has been a member of the College of Law since 1978. He served as associate dean for academic affairs from 1979-1981. Since 1998, he has been a professor of public administration in the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. In 1998, he was named the Laura J. and L. Douglas Meredith Professor for Teaching Excellence. He teaches constitutional law, advanced constitutional law, national security law, U.S. counter-terrorism and the law, administrative law, legislation, regulatory law and policy, public administration and law and public law processes. In addition to teaching public law subjects, Banks lectures extensively on these and other national security and constitutional law-related topics and on comparative legal systems throughout the United States and Canada as well as in South and Central America, the Caribbean, Asia, Africa and Europe.

Berteau is director of the NSS, which trains mid-career officers and civilians in management, leadership and decision-making, and is a faculty member in the Department of Public Administration. He was previously the senior vice president with Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) and served 12 years with the Department of Defense. As principal deputy assistant secretary of defense for production and logistics, he oversaw some of the largest agencies in the federal government and ran the defense base closure and reuse process. He is the former chairman of the Defense Conversion Commission and former deputy assistant secretary of defense for resource management and support, where he was responsible for defense manpower and ran the Office of Economic Adjustment.
