“Islam and the West: The Challenge for Barack Obama” will be the topic of discussion at the next State of Democracy Lecture, sponsored by the , scheduled for Friday, Nov. 12, at 4 p.m. in Maxwell Auditorium on the ϲ campus.
Roger Hardy, a public policy scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C., will deliver his remarks followed by responses from William Banks, Board of Advisors Distinguished Professor of Law, professor of public administration, and director of the Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism; and Mehrzad Boroujerdi, associate professor of political science and director of the Middle Eastern Studies Program at the Maxwell School.
Hardy is a former Middle East and Islamic affairs analyst with the BBC World Service, and author of “The Muslim Revolt: A Journey through Political Islam” (Columbia University Press, 2010).
The event is free and open to the public. Public parking will be available in the Irving Garage.
