Entertainment industry executive Rose Catherine Pinkney will visit the at ϲ on Wednesday, Feb. 16, for the 10th annual “Conversation on Race and Entertainment Media” with Richard Dubin, Newhouse professor of practice in television-radio-film. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Halmi Room, Room 141 in Newhouse 3. The event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in SU pay lots.
Pinkney is vice president of development at Cinema Gypsy (actor Laurence Fishburne’s production company), where she oversees the television arm of the company, in association with CBS Paramount Network Television. In this capacity, she develops television products for broadcast and cable networks.
Prior to Cinema Gypsy, Pinkney was executive vice president of programming and production at TV One, senior vice president of comedy development at Paramount Pictures Television and director of programming at Twentieth Century Fox Television. She has repeatedly been recognized for her exceptional achievement, with honors including Network Journal’s 25 Most Influential Black Women in Business, Cable World’s Top 50 Women in Cable and Black Enterprise’s Top 50 Entertainment Executives.
Pinkney graduated from Princeton University and earned a M.B.A. in entertainment management and marketing from the Anderson School of Management at the University of California, Los Angeles.
The Newhouse School’s annual “Conversation on Race and Entertainment Media” is an opportunity for SU students, faculty and staff, and members of the ϲ community to come together and discuss the ecology of race and television with Hollywood insiders.
