Story update: An additional ticket opportunity has just been added on Friday, Sept. 28, at 9 a.m. The public will be able to receive a maximum of two tickets to the session of their choice­—morning or afternoon (based on availability). A total of 300 additional tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can only be obtained in person at the Schine Box Office, located in the Schine Student Center.

A limited number of tickets will be available for the “Common Ground for Peace” symposium on Monday, Oct. 8, featuring His Holiness the Dalai Lama, spiritual leader of Tibet. The symposium convenes international thought leaders and the SU campus in critical conversations about how to shift global consciousness toward matters of peace and is a separate event from the public talk and One World Concert on Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the Carrier Dome.

A minimum of 300 complimentary tickets in total will be made available to students and the general public for each session—morning and afternoon. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can only be obtained in person at the Schine Box Office, located in the Schine Student Center. Tickets will be distributed as follows:

Tuesday, Sept. 25, 5-7:00 p.m. for SU students
Students with a current, valid SU ID card will be able to pick up one ticket to the session of their choice (based on availability). Students will receive a handout with each ticket informing them of the entry screening process for the event.

Wednesday, Sept. 26, starting at 9 a.m. for general public
The public will be able to receive a maximum of two tickets to the session of their choice (based on availability). A handout will be distributed with each ticket informing ticket holders of the entry screening process for the event.

Tickets are required to attend each of the “Common Ground for Peace” symposium sessions occurring on Monday, Oct 8. Only tickets specifically issued for each session will be accepted for admission. Tickets are not interchangeable.

Panelists: His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama; founder and chairman of the Global Partnerships Forum Amir Dossal; Nobel Peace Laureate and former director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency Mohamed ElBaradei; energy and national security specialist and former Director of Central Intelligence R. James Woolsey; former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Andrew Young; and Iranian-American journalist Roxana Saberi.

For those unable to attend the Oct. 8 sessions in person, the University is making available several viewing locations on campus. Rooms will be open during the sessions (9-11 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m.) but will close once capacity is reached. Since Oct. 8 is a class and work day for the University, visitors are encouraged to utilize public transportation. Parking is available at meters and in surrounding pay lots/garages.
