Constitution Day Celebration Features Lecture by Author, Journalist Joan Biskupic

As part of events and activities scheduled around Constitution Day at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ, noted author and journalist Joan Biskupic will be lecture on the Supreme Court nomination process. Biskupic has written biographies on Justices Sandra Day O’Connor, Antonin Scalia and, most recently, Sonia Sotomayor.

National Constitution Day commemorates the adoption of the U.S. Constitution and is dedicated to educating Americans about the rights enshrined in their founding documents. While Constitution Day is held on Sept. 17 (the day the U.S. Constitution was signed in 1787), Biskupic will be speaking on Wednesday, Sept 24 at noon in the Gray Ceremonial Courtroom in Dineen Hall. Afterward, she will sign copies of her new book, “Breaking In: The Rise of Sonia Sotomayor and the Politics of Justice” (Sarah Crichton Books).

On Wednesday, Sept. 17, free pocket-sized copies of the U.S. Constitution will be available at Bird Library. The giveaway at the library is sponsored by ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Libraries. The Office of Government and Community Relations will give them away that day in the Milton Atrium of the Life Sciences Complex as well.
