After several months of discussion and planning, the Division of Student Affairs has announced the creation of the Student Affairs Advisory Board, which will officially commence in the spring semester. The advisory board will serve as a volunteer council to Senior Vice President and Dean of Student Affairs Rebecca Reed Kantrowitz and the broader Division of Student Affairs.
“The Division of Student Affairs is thrilled to launch this new student advisory board,” says Kantrowitz. “Having this advisory board will provide opportunities for increased communication and connection between students and our division, as well as assist us in generating new ideas relevant to students’ interests and concerns.”
The advisory board will consist of approximately 25 student representatives. The group will be asked to provide insight on issues related to student life and to offer suggestions related to services, communications and programs.
In addition to nominations received from the Student Association and the Graduate Student Organization, there are additional spots for students interested in joining the advisory board. The commitment will involve attending meetings every other week, to be determined based on the students’ schedules.
To apply, students are asked to submit a short letter of interest and resume to studentaffairs@syr.edu by Sunday, Nov. 30.
