Shana Kushner Gadarian, associate professor of political science in the Maxwell School, was quoted in the FiveThirtyEight story, “” Gadarian, and expert on American politics and public opinion research, has been researching politics amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Her research has shown “moments of extreme anxiety and uncertainty can actually make people more open to new sources of information — including public health experts and leaders from the opposing party.” So, Gadarian says she “was surprised to see such enormous divides emerge as the pandemic wore on.”
