Shana Kushner Gadarian, associate professor of political science in the Maxwell School, was quoted in the WAER Radio story “” Gadarian, who studies American politics and political opinion, says she is not surprised by the President’s diagnosis, yet she feels that it leaves opportunity for more volatility in the election. “Adding the vulnerability of the president’s health will lead to beliefs about conspiracy theories about how the president got it. I have concerns the president’s health will be blamed on outside actors and open up this kind of volatility that’s already part of the political system,” says Gadarian.
