Robert Thompson, Trustee Professor of television, radio and film and director of the Bleier Center for Television and Popular Culture in the Newhouse School, was quoted in the Reuters story “.” Thompson, an expert on pop culture and television, says the reason TV Christmas movies are so popular is because they do not reflect reality. Thompson believes the television industry has responded to the pandemic by pretending that it hasn’t happened when it comes to creating new show and movie content.
