“Can JC Penny Perform a Magic Act As It Emerges From Bankruptcy?”

Ray Wimer, professor of retail practice in the Whitman School, was interviewed for the International Business Times piece “” Wimer, an expert on the retail industry, says that the only way JC Penny will be able to reemerge after bankruptcy is to give a reason for their once core customers to return for “high-low pricing that they are known for.” However, Wimer says it will not be easy for the company, as the “competition that they are up against – Kohl’s, TJX, Target, and even Walmart — had decent years and were able to invest in technology, something JC Penney was not able to do.”
