Aileen Gallagher, associate professor of magazine, news and digital journalism in the Newhouse School, was quoted by CNN for the article “.” Gallagher, who had an extensive career at a variety of magazines, believes that book-like magazines, what she calls bookazines, are a luxurious treat during the pandemic. “We’re all still stuck in our houses and the only place we’re really going is the grocery store. It’s like, ‘Oh, here’s this thing that will entertain me for a little while that I will invest $10 in,'” Gallagher says.
