Roy Gutterman, associate professor of magazine, news and digital journalism in the Newhouse School and director of the Tully Center for Free Speech, was quoted in the Associated Press story “.” Gutterman, an expert on communications law, says that it is “journalism 101” to not interview family or friends, which Chris Cuomo has broken many times on his show by interviewing his brother, Governor Andrew Cuomo. “I found these interviews to be very entertaining, and perhaps Chris could ask questions of his brother that other people can’t,” Gutterman says, however he has always thought it was “wildly inappropriate.”
