Jennifer Grygiel, assistant professor of communications in the Newhouse School, authored an op-ed for The Conversation titled “.” Grygiel, an expert on social media, comments on Facebook’s response to Australia’s newly passed law, which requires major tech companies to pay local publishers for news access. Facebook reacted by banning all news posts on the platform in Australia, a move which Grygiel says is a threat to journalism and is negatively reshaping the web.
