“Legacy of #44 at ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ spans decades of sports history”

, university archivist with the Special Collections Research Center in Bird Library, was interviewed for the Spectrum News story “.” Last December marked the 60th anniversary of Ernie Davis becoming the first Black athlete to win the Heisman Trophy in college football history. Mason discussed Davis’s legacy and that of other ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ football players in relation to the University archives housed in Bird Library. “That’s why the number 44, because of Brown, Davis, and Lloyd, is so sacred on campus,” Mason said.
