Don’t end up like Otto! Be prepared! Check out these tips from on how to prevent getting and spreading the flu:
- The best defense against the flu is to get your flu shot as early as possible.Even thought we’re in the middle of flu season, it’s still a good idea to get yours if you haven’t already. The offers flue shots on a walk-in basis, so be sure to get yours!
- Avoid others who show flu-like symptoms. This can be tough in close living quarters, shared restrooms and social spaces, but do your best!
- Wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. For times when you can’t wash your hands at a sink, use some hand sanitizer!
- Always remember to cover your cough and sneeze. Using a tissue is best, but the inside of your arm is ok when you don’t have access to tissues.
- If you think you have the flu, make an appointment to be seen as soon as you can. Health Services is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 8:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can , or call 315.443.9005.
Be sure to pick up a flu kit, too! It has helpful information and things like tissues, hand sanitizer and a single-use thermometer to keep you healthy and prepared this flu season. Stop by Health Services or ask your RA to get yours.
