It’s Flu Season, People

Don’t end up like Otto! Be prepared! Check out these tips from on how to prevent getting and spreading the flu:

  1. The best defense against the flu is to get your flu shot as early as possible.Even thought we’re in the middle of flu season, it’s still a good idea to get yours if you haven’t already. The  offers flue shots on a walk-in basis, so be sure to get yours!
  2. Avoid others who show flu-like symptoms. This can be tough in close living quarters, shared restrooms and social spaces, but do your best!
  3. Wash your hands frequently and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. For times when you can’t wash your hands at a sink, use some hand sanitizer!
  4. Always remember to cover your cough and sneeze. Using a tissue is best, but the inside of your arm is ok when you don’t have access to tissues.
  5. If you think you have the flu, make an appointment to be seen as soon as you can. Health Services is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 8:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can , or call 315.443.9005.

Be sure to pick up a flu kit, too! It has helpful information and things like tissues, hand sanitizer and a single-use thermometer to keep you healthy and prepared this flu season. Stop by Health Services or ask your RA to get yours.
