���ϲ����� will honor students, faculty, staff and community partners who exemplify SU’s commitment to engagement with the community and Scholarship in Action with the 2010 Chancellor’s Awards for Public Engagement and Scholarship at a celebration dinner on Monday, April 5.

Tom Sherman, professor of art video in the School of Art and Design’s Department of Transmedia in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, has been named one of eight recipients of Canada’s 2010 Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts.

Tyler Dunne placed third, winning a $1,000 scholarship, while Jared Diamond placed ninth, earning a $500 scholarship.

The Sheraton ���ϲ����� Hotel & Conference Center has received the 2010 Good Earthkeeping Award from the New York State Hospitality and Tourism Association (NYSH&TA) for successfully implementing many green initiatives.

The ���ϲ����� Women’s Choir, under the direction of Barbara M. Tagg, faculty member in the Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA), will premiere the winning composition of SU’s Gregg Smith Choral Composition Contest on Friday, March 26.

Frank Bisignano, chief administrative officer for JPMorgan Chase & Co. and a member of the firm’s operating committee and executive committee, will be awarded ���ϲ�����’s prestigious Chancellor’s Medal for Outstanding Achievement.

Ryan Dickerson ’11, a junior in the College of Arts and Sciences and creator of The Rylaxer—a patented “bed transforming pillow”—is a finalist in Inc. magazine’s “America’s Coolest College Start-Ups” online contest.

Juliette Lynch, a senior photography student in ���ϲ�����’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, placed first in the student portion of the 20th annual Alexia Photojournalism Competition.
